    Trondsi,
Witch Hazel does not have a menthol-like cooling sensation, although I have found it to sting in some cases.

Just got my first bottle of thayers witch hazel. And on the lable it states to apply with a cotton ball. Does it make a difference if you use a cotton ball or just pour it in your hand? what do ya'll do?

    Andrevs20,

In my experience, that is just a guideline. I use Witch Hazel by squirting it into my palms, rubbing them together, and then splashing/rubbing it into my face/neck/head. There is nothing special about using a cotton ball and Witch Hazel exclusively.

I just pour some into my hands and rub it on.

Got a bottle of the alcohol-free cucumber-flavored Thayers and splashed some on tonight for kicks. Feels nice, cool. Makes me smell like a tiny little buffet sandwich.

I put my witch hazel into a spray bottle & then just spray the palm of my hand or spray directly onto my neck. Seems to work better than the bottle it comes in, usually it just runs all over.

    Default witch hazel wipes

From the Witch hazel Wipes Thread

I picked up a plastic canister of 70% alcohol wipes from the local pharmacy ($1.50 on sale 40ct). I removed the top and the roll of wipes and let them sit out (in a safe place) for a couple of days. Once dry I put the roll back in the canister and added about 1/2 of a bottle of Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel. Put the cap on gave it a shake and let it sit over night.
The wipes are great and very convenient.

Just made my first AS from witch hazel today and tried it after my shave. I never used anything non-alcohol based before, minus the one time I tried witch hazel out of the bottle. That did nothing for me, and I did not expect much from my attempt today. I must say I really am pleasantly surprised tho, it certainly goes into my to-keep list.

Just squirt it into your cupped palm and splash it on, baby! Also, to whom it may concern, witch hazel does not sting. It may be that you had a stinging sensation with a product that contains witch hazel AND some other stinging ingredient, most notably alcohol. That is one reason why I prefer Thayer's witch hazel toner with no alcohol. It also contains aloe vera and comes in several nifty scents, such as: lavender, lemon, rose to name a few.

Like the idea of putting witch hazel in the fridge. I always use it after my cold rinse so it makes sense to have the hazel cold. Can't wait to try it.
