As a former Scoutmaster, I've still got an industrial-size container of that I and others depended on during our week at a humid southern summer camp. Good defense against crotch rot, but I can't see using it on my face.

Croch rot sounds so harsh. I started using it backpacking and it just had a way of lifting my spirits. Just try not to think about croch rot when putting it on your face.

I hear you, Shavemeister-One of my favorite "pick-me-ups" when backpacking is to pack in the big camp-sized wet-ones wipes and scrub off as much grime as you can get to. My family and I did almost a week in Yellowstone where the closest we got to a shower were creek water and wet ones!

I might put a little on the back of my neck after a shower, but I have not put it on my face after a shave. Do you put it on your face after the shave? Do you apply aftershave before?
