Just so you know I have, since this post, stopped using a wash after the shave as it seemed to cause issues when I did get a nick. I have not seen any ill effects andmy skin feels a little better for it. Also a lot of folks here dislike scrubs before the shave since the blade does some exfoliating all by itself. I've stopped scrubbing on shave day (still do it from time to time on non-shave days) and have seen no increase in ingrowns. I think that proper technique and avoiding atg is probably the biggest factor...that and keeping everything clean. YMMV.

i had an issue with ingrowns..

so i went to a face scrub that had some coarse texture to it..

then i follow that with Bigelows cleanser

then witch hazel and its good night time

I'd definitely do the cleanser pre-shave. And end the routine with moisturizer/asb.

I will second this. Harsh acne treatment right after shaving just seems like asking for pain. I try to shave at the top of the day after a shower and I use a non scrub face cleaner. That night before bed is when I use the scrubs. I'm also an every two or three day shaver because I can be.
