    Default very cheap alternative

I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried this before, so here it goes.
    Petroleum Jelly
A while back I was doing my normal routine. I got done shaving and realized that I was out of my aftershave (ToBS Sandlewood) the only thing that I saw that I could use was Petroleum Jelly. I thought... This is going to be a bad day. Anyway, got it out and applied the Jelly... lol Jelly wish I would have had some peanut butter??? Anyway, I went off to work and didn't really give it another thought till lunch. Looked in the mirror and wow to my surprise I looked great... or as good as I can as the wife Anyway didn't know if someone had tried this before but, for me it was a win win situation.

PS. I do use less in the summer as anyone that has ever messed around with it will tell you that it is thick. But, works great for me.

Thanks for your time and I hope I spelled it correctly... Jelly that is. lol I just like saying that.

    Peace

The thing is, what would you otherwise have used the petroleum jelly for under normal circumstances? I only mention this because when I was a little baby, my mother often mistakenly used to powder my face with talc......... and I sometimes shudder to think where she might have stuck the pacifier....

Lol I have 4 kids ranging from 1 - 6 yrs. At first it was for them as a lotion after baths. The only prob that I have found with it which I should have mentioned before is that there really isn't a scent to it. But, I guess that is what cologne is for.

That wouldn't work for me. The idea of putting pore filling grease on my face isn't inviting.

Same here. If I did that I'd get a breakout of zits, something I normally don't have issues with except when using oily products.

I've posted this many times over the years in different places: Putting petroleum jelly on the face and removing the excess with a terry cloth towel and leaving a thin invisible film is an old actor's trick employed to keep them looking as young as possible over the years. I read this decades ago and the article was referring to A-list actors and actresses from the 20's on up to the 80's. It was considered to be thee best anti-aging regimen ever up until that time.

I have also read and had it confirmed that petroleum jelly does not clog or fill the pores and that this is a myth started long ago, the origins of which I can't remember now. The explanation I received was that it's viscosity at room temperature is not viscous/pliant enough to penetrate the pores to any depth and it is non-reactive to the skin. It's only function being to seal in moisture and seal out bacteria.

    Hope that helps.

    Best Regards,
    EL

Ask any woman. They use the stuff to take off makeup as do actors but I'm not aware of them leaving it on.

Another old actor's trick was to fill in deep wrinkles with undertakers' embalming wax before a foundation of Leichner greasepaint then dusting powder.

If you possess a pair of patent leather shoes or belt, petroleum jelly is by far the best thing to not only produce a high gloss but also prevent them cracking. Also indispensable on car battery terminals. Frankenstein's electrodes? Those hospital heart restarting boofers? Good stuff!

They had a million tricks didn't they? Another was to use Brylcreem to hide gray hair. Groom & Clean produced the same effect. I use G&C and often get compliments on my "jet black" hair even though my hair is brown with gray in it when it's natural so the trick does work.
