Thread: How often do you use your Alum Bloc

So I was just reading some threads about Alum Blocs and was wondering, How do you use your Alum Bloc?

If I didn't have to order one by mail I'd probably have one already - if I knew why I needed it.

Isn't an alum a religious thing? Like giving alums to the poor?

But seriously, I have never used one. If I cut myself I just let it bleed until the bleeding stops. If I were to cut myself in a way that wouldn't stop bleeding by itself then I shouldn't be shaving.

Right next to the Pinaud Clubman they have a stiptic pencil thingy. Wet it, rub it on bleeders and scream.

It's sorta like ramming your face into a sausage grinder. Everybody loves it.

The good part about it is it stops the bleeding and kills bacteria in that open wound... if it doesn't you need stitches... if it does you remember not to do that again!

I use it everyday, works well for keeping my skin clean along with witch hazel.
use it after every shave too to disinfect my face.
even got some of the 'CRYSTAL' deodorant, and so far nobody has told me i stink!

btw, its ALMS for the poor.

Alum has never stopped any bleeding for me. A styptic stick is for that. Alum based but contains other things too. Don't use the deodorant xtl on your face. Those are usually Ammonium Alum which isn't kind to the face.

It's funny, I had my alum block for probably more than 6 months before I finally gave it a go. I just loved the way it made my face feel after shaving, and now I never shave without using it.

Any nick the cold water splash can't take care of has always been beyond the alum block too. It's just a great after-shave treatment, for me YMMV etc.
