Styptic pens will be your best friend when you get older and are on high blood pressure meds. Cuz when your blood is thinner,you bleed like a SOB. Trust me on this one !!!!!!!

I think it just depends on how you deal with pain i think they are great, a little sting and stops the bleeding works a treat.Whats that saying a take a tea spoon of cement and harden up.[only joking with the last comment ]

Thanks for the info. i just picked up a natural, alum deodorant block and i does not sting as much as the styptic pencil as it only has potassium alum (natural mineral salts), whereas the styptic pencil's main ingredient is aluminum sulphate.
The deodorant block is just an alum block, i believe, but it works great! Stops my many nicks and cuts that i get while praticing my shaving. They are relatively cheap. You can actually fined these things in blocks at any place that sells natural or organic body products or natural food stores will probably care them. Here, in Canada, they run about $3.50 -$5.

Well you have given me some good info there mate ive been asking about alum blocks in chemists in aus and no one has come up with that info so i will give the deodorant block a go ive seen them about thanks celestino.

No worries, mate. It is always great to help someone from down under. i hope the suggestion works for you. You won't be out much money and if you do not like it, you could always use it as a deodorant for any part of your body. It also works fine that way. i am not sure if you saw my post, earlier today, but i suggested using natural witch hazel after the cold water as an aftershave to cool and soften your skin. It is a great, natural skin care applicator for any skin problems such as sunburn, rashes, mosquito bites, etc.. You could also try natural shea butter to moisturize your skin at the end. You might find it a bit oily/greasy, but it works fabulously to keep your skin soft and moisturized almost all day. You should be able to pick that up at those specialized stores that i mentioned or even where you pick up the alum block/deodorant. Buy a small container of it so as not to spend to much money and try it for a couple of weeks or so.
