Thanked: 4Ingrown hair treatment
I had a few ingrown hairs. I pulled them out of their ingrown path with a tweezer. Is it better to remove them completely? Is there a risk of them refinding their ingrowing path? Or should I let them grow naturally, and just cut them down on my next shave?

I used to have ingrown hairs and always pulled them out. I tend to have more ingrown hairs when the shave is less smooth. Always shave with a really sharp razor, don't muscle a razor that is not sharp enough through your whiskers.

I've heard that by pulling them out, you risk further infecting the hair follicle, and thus "re-guiding" the hair is the better way to go. I used to get a lot of ingrowns, and since straight shaving maybe a few a year, so I don't deal with the issue often. If I do get an ingrown, however, I typically use a soft nylon brush (something like a toothbrush, or even a toothbrush will work) and brush over the area to free the hair, as you did with tweezers.
The swollen little bump from an ingrown hair can cause a nick when shaving, and the brush method, as opposed to the tweezing-the-hair-out method, seems to make the swelling go down faster.
