I agree with a few of the guys above. For price over quality you can't go wrong with Corn Huskers Lotion. It's dirt cheap and available at most walmart stores or target. I am very minimal when I comes to a wide variety of aftershave. I primarily use corn huskers lotion, and work it into my face then, a nice splash of Clubman Pinaud...every day for about 6 months. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

I really like unscented Lubriderm 3 in 1. I tried Nivea but maybe I got a scented version and I did not like the smell at all although the product worked fine. I also agree that most any moisturizer will work fine. I've got some Corn Huskers that I scented with a sampler vial of GFT sandalwood to try and create a cheap version of their excellent skin food. It works but it's not the same, the CH is more cloying.
I suspect I'll break down and buy a bottle of GFT Coral and Sandalwood skin foods when my samples run out. I love the scent of each and nothing I've tried gives that same effect.

One time I was out of my usual aftershave so I grabbed some of my Hawaiian Tropic #4 suntan lotion. It was great. I've been using it ever since. Makes my face feel great.

I have found the Aesop Moroccan Neroli Post Shave Lotion to be excellent.
Great Scent and suited towards guys with dry / sensitive skin.
On the downside, it is very pricey!!!

Gentlemen,
I keep a regular supply of three different aftershave balm/moisturizers: Trumper's Coral Skin Food, Institute Karite's aftershave balm, and Scottish Fine Soap's aftershave balm. Good stuff all of them.

Nivea Q10 with SPF15 balm work very well

When I need moisturizer, I like Clinique Post Shave Healer. It is VERY light, so leaves not oily feeling. It has a touch of alcohol in it so you get some astringent.
I've also noticed that when slightly dry and tight, as you mention, Witch Hazel works wonders. I like several of the Thayer's "flavors", but the peach really seems to add some moisture to my face. I gave some to step-father and told him it was black magic in a bottle. He believes me.

Lots of good options out there. Nivea aftershave balm for sensitive skin (alcohol and dye free) the price is right and it performs well. You can buy it almost anywhere as well.

I highly recommend The Body Shop's Face Protector. I've used it for years and it works wonders. I'm not sure about elsewhere, but lately here in Canada it seems to be a rare commodity. A pity, for sure.

I use Anthony's Face moisturizer in the evenings and then their SPF moisturizer in the mornings. Both are great and leave my skin very soft and not at all greasy. I've also had success with Lab Series SPF face moisturizer and the regular as well. I have my routine. I normally use Jack Black Beard lube to shave, then the mositurizers after my skin has dried.
