Trumper's Skin Food?
I've used a variety of products for an aftershave balm but recently tried the two samplers of Trumper's Coral and Sandalwood skin food that came in a sampler pack from them. It's like Corn Huskers without the stickiness. But it seems very close to CH and I'm guessing it's the guar gum that causes a *sealing* effect. But for some reason, the Trumper products, which smell great depending on what you think smells great, don't have the stickiness that CH has until it's dried. I like CH and scented it with a little sandalwood cologne to change the fragrance (and that alone helps a lot IMO) but I'm seriously considering buying a replacement bottle of the Coral and Sandalwood when my samples run out. It's just so dang expensive when all it seems to be is slightly better performing Corn Huskers with much nicer scents.
What's the thinking on this product from Trumper? I like their creams OK but am not big on any of their colognes save for Skye which is too expensive for me over my favorite - Old Spice.

Thanked: 20I think the stuff is fantastic. My favorite is the one you don't have - Limes. I had the same reservations about price that you did, but I bought it anyways based on reputation. Once I started using it, price was no longer an issue with me because of the performance and the fact that you use a very small amount (literally a drop or two) each time, so even the small 100 ml bottle will last a long time.

CSG,
I have used Trumper's Coral Skin Food for years and it is exquisite in every way.

Thanked: 1195Big +1, and I agree with every word.
Skin Food found a permanent home in my shave den and is used after every shave. It really does work wonders, and I have no problem recommending it to anyone.
BTW - As for Trumper's aftershaves/colognes, have you tried Spanish Leather? It was "love at first sniff" for me. If you like Old Spice (and I know you do ) or English Leather you'll likely enjoy this one.

I wish they'd included a lime sampler too in their sampler pack but I'm hesitant to risk buying a bottle of it without a sniff first. I can see the stuff will last a long time as I've barely dented either the sandalwood or coral samples I received and have used each three or four times.
I like the CH but it's just not the same thing. I think it might be a better moisturizer than the skin food but the Trumpers just feels and smells better, no question. I should quit being such a tightwad and get a 100 ml bottle of each before the world ends later this year anyway. That way I won't feel like I cheated myself like if I'd gotten the 500 ml bottles (which are just such a better price per ounce...
Thanks for the feedback. It helps reinforce what I knew I was going to do all along.

And to be true to my word, I just Amazoned a 200ml bottle of each the Coral and Sandalwood. It's like getting two of the little bottles for only $19.97 each! How could I resist?? :

Thanked: 0I'd be interested to try this. I have the problem that my skin is dry if I don't moisturise, but gets Oily really easily. I usually use an oily skin moisturiser (Boots Botanical)
I'm only DE shaving (Slim with Wilkin Sword) and I use face wash in the shower, then superlather with a cheap soap and Taylors shave cream.
I then use a generic witchhazel and then moisturiser. (I'm gonna get a better soap when I've used that, but only just started using it)
My skin feels great after this, but can look a bit blotchy. I also try to use the witchhazel and moisturiser before bed and on mornings I don't shave (When I remember) in order to keep my skin clear as acne causes me problems sometimes too.
I want to try to stay with British brands wherever possible, so love the idea of London based suppliers with years of rich history.
Would this balm make my skin more oily? Becuase you guys seem to think it's the nuts!
I did try using a Boots No7 aftershave balm for oily skin, but it was rubbish! it made my skin greasey and seemed to exacerbate razor burn.
Thanks
