    Default Isopropyl / lavender water

I started out using rubbing alcohol, but just recently I switched to Dr. Harris& Co old English lavender water. I've found it to be slightly less harsh and I like the scent, reminds me of gin.

Anyone else given it a shot?

Anything would have to be better than rubbing alcohol on freshly shaved skin.

I used rubbing alcohol as after shave for 10 years. It certainly does bring the heat. I have not tried lavender water but I definately would! I tend to have ASAD....and RAD thank god I dont have HAD!

Alcohol did burn, but it was exhilarating in a way. Sometimes when I got a shave spot on there would barely be a tingle, so it was a nice yardstick to how well I was doing.

    Slightly less harsh???

My friend, my hat is off you. If you endured isopropyl as an aftershave then surely waterboarding would be a breeze

On the bright side, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven when you discover the myriad wonderful aftershave products out there that are exponentially better for your skin

I just tried (yesterday, no shave this morning) a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (70%) over most of my face and it burned no worse than an alcohol-rich aftershave (average burn). Of course I put on something else to pamper myself, but it wasn't horrendous. I'll try and use more later.

I ain't never figured out why people love to set their faces on fire with high alcohol products when finished shaving. Soothing witch hazel and a balm finishes up a great shave with all of the nice soaps and creams we like. Oh well ymmv and all I guess.

    Cool Support for Alcoholism

Some dudes on here have left me with the impression they believe it helps them reduce the next day bumpies. I always have some level of rugged terrain due to keratosis pilarus but if my immune system is overreacting wouldn't alcohol, or at least alcohol-rich aftershave products help by sterilizing my skin? It may also help bring blood to the surface of the skin. It is stressful to a freshly exfoliated epidermis, or perhaps at that stage it should just be called dermis?
