Default alum is alum is alum?

Firstly, apologies if this has been done to death before, and I dare say it has. I haven't got my computer working and the search function isn't Woking on my phone.
Is one block/brand of alum pretty much the same as another? I'm about to buy my first lump of it and the prices differ immensely!

    Cheers fellas,

    Iain

I like the Razorock alum. It comes in a holder and is about 2in long by 1in wide.

I use Shavex Alum Block. I use it every shave, it's only halfway used and it's been a year !

It does everything. It's antiseptic/antibacterial properties help keep nicks from getting infected, it'll absorb extra oil on your face (those things together makes it great for acne), makes your fingers tacky so that you can stretch your skin properly, and in a pinch it can be used as an antiperspirant. It's a little block of awesome.

As long as it's Potassium Alum and not Ammonia it should all be the same. I use the Tulumba stuff and in the past I've used the Osama and I've also used the Classic Shaving brand and from what I can see it's all the same.

they're basically chunks of mineral...i imagine you could get the cheapest you can find and still have the same effect. I use Shavex. It was like $5 and it'll last years.
