Best remedy for a sensitive skin are good beard prep and very sharp razor. The softer the hairs and the sharper the razor the less pressure you need. IME pressure and having to goe over a certain area more often are the things that cause burning.

Personally, I used to get razor burn and a few ingrowns all the time. I started using TendSkin a few years ago. A squirt on a cotton ball and a good pass over my face after shaving and my skin is great. I will warn you, it hurts like a motherf&*##$, but the results don't lie. It's also kind of expensive ($47 for a 16oz bottle), but one bottle lasts an entire year, and my wife uses it on her legs and underarms when she shaves as well.

    Hello there,

Here what I do with my sensitive skin....
    First: Lower your razor pressure.
Second: test if everyday shave, two days or three days shave will help you control your skin. This is test which you need to do.
Third: I will suggest hot towel before shave, use more brush pressure when applying leather on the face (to soften and move hairs in their skin mesh) and after shave use Honeybee Garden (HBG for Men Herbal Aftershave For Men) as this one has many natural herbs helping sensitive skin. One warning... it has 40% alcohol so when you apply and you feel skin burning you know you have used to much pressure when shaved. At the end (that`s fanny but yes simple ) Nivea after shave balm for sensitive skin. ONE THING WHICH DOES NOT WORK FOR ME AND MY SENSITIVE SKIN-GLYCERIN. When I add glycerin to leather (when preparing) it will BURN my skin, and skin after shave is extremely dry. Why… I don`t have any idea why. All this things works for me. Hope at least one will work for you.

From other hand-do you use fresh towel for hot towel every time you shave? When I use my towel twice I got bumps too, always!

I would say that's primarily from bacteria.

I have an overly sensitive skin as well. The cure for it lays in the answers of others within this thread, and it is correct - shave ready str8, perfect face prep, very light touch (let the weight of the razor do the job). I would add Proraso pre/post to this as well. This all helped me considering the fact that I have very sensitive skin, but still shave every day.

I used to think I had sensitive skin but now I'm not so sure. Since I got my technique sorted, started using Alum and an aftershave its gone. Also I don't set out to get a BBS I aim for a close comfortable shave, sometimes it is BBS other times its not.
