For real dry skin
I got real dry skin. If I don't shave everyday, you can see dry flakes of skin around my cheeks and chin. I used to use Trumpers skin food with ok results but I recently started using Nancy Boy products. The Replenishing After- Shave gel is great. I've been using it for about 2 months now and my dry skin is gone but I got to use it everyday. Their Cooling After-Shave gel is good too but the Replenishing works best for me. Anybody else use this stuff?

No I don't, I have the opposite problem, an oily face. I have to watch what I put on it. Wish I had dry skin.

Thanked: 1195I've never tried the Nancy Boy line, but many do and the reviews seem very positive.
I'd also suggest Nivea and The Body shop Maca Root Skin Protector. The aforementioned Skin Food can technically be used on its own, but many will use it in conjunction with other products (balms, etc) with great results. Myself included

I use Cetaphil on my face after showers, and it seems to help with dryness.

RC, in pursuit of a way to enrichen soap lathers that weren't moist enough, I bought some pure lanolin. At the time, Wally World carried it in the Baby Care products section. Apparently it was used by nursing mothers when skin got tender. Its is VERY thick - hard to squeeze out of the tube, not quite play-dough thick. I tried thinning it w/ Aloe Vera gel, then added some of the Jergens Shea Butter hand lotion (Shea butter is listed as the 2nd ingred. so there's a generous amount). The combination has done more to keep my skin moist than any product - or combination of products. The lanolin squirts out through a hole about 3/32" wide. I push up about 1/8"-1/4" and wipe it onto the hand, then add a squirt of the aloe gel - about the diameter of a nickel. It takes a few seconds for it to thin out the lanolin. Then add dime-sized squirt of the shea lotion. Soft and smooth all day. My Mrs. bought a book on the chemistry of cosmetics, and it mentioned lanolin as the strongest moisturizer for the face, with cocoa butter a distant 2nd. 'Been very pleased with its performance. Before using the lanolin, I used a smear of Palmer's cocoa butter. 'Hard to quantify the 'smear', but its very very little. Think spreading butter on hot toast and only covering an area the size of a nickel. It worked well. If you use too much of the cocoa butter, it will leave the skin very well protected, but will appear waxy/greasy/shiny.

I used to have this sort of problem too. I got into a routine of cleansing and moisturising every day, with a facial scrub used the night before shaving.
My current rotation comprises of Dermalogica's Ultra Calming Cleanser, L'Occitane's Juniper Bark Scrube and Nivea Creme as my primary moisturiser. I also use the Borage Anti-Shine Moisturiser by Korres on the evening after a morning shave.
I only use balms after shaving now. No alcohol products whatsoever. And I still have some of the Coral Skin Food which I started to use in my early days of straight shaving.
