Thanked: 31How carefully do you remove the lather?
I usually splash a lot of water in my face after the shave, to remove any remaining lather. Then I put on aftershave and usually some Trumper skinfood.
But I often see others (in shaving videos for instance) simply patting with a towel, and then applying aftershave. Doesn't this cause irritation if some soap remains on the skin? Is it important to remove the lather, or is it no biggie?

Personally I rinse first with warm water to remove soap followed by cold water which helps close skin pores and soothes the skin. I use Witch Hazel instead of after shave followed by AS balm.

I imagine the answer is YMMV but I always rinse off the soap.

Thanked: 247How carefully do you remove the lather?
My after shave routine changes frequently, but I generally try and remove all the lather.
There have been times I missed some and found it as a dried clump on my neck on my way to work (face palm). It didn't seem to cause me any problems. I think most shave soaps and creams are better on the skin than bath soap but I could be wrong...

I find shaving soap to be very "sticky" and hard to wash off. I spend lots of time washing and scrubbing off every last bit with warm water.

I rinse with very warm water making sure I rub not to RUB too much followed by splashing with as cold of water as I can get out of the tap.

I rinse with warm water and run wet hands up my neck to ensure the lather is off. Then cold water, alum, and Aftershave.
Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

A few times a week I simply wipe any remaining lather with a towel and apply aftershave. The lather, whether from soap or cream, leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized. I otherwise rinse with cold water.

Thanked: 2I just turn my hot towel into a cold towel and that does a great job.
