    Default Alum block use...

So I just got my first alum block and and I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly. Do you use it just over nicks and cuts or over the whole face before the balm? Did it that way in hopes of cutting down the razor burn. It thinned out my balm and my face was sensitive most of the day. What gives?

Run it under cold water and rub it over your whole face. Needs to be quite wet.

Remember to rinse it off before the AS and Balm.

I too just started using it. I've been playing around trying different stuff. See what works best for you. Overall I like the stuff.

Everything pfries said and I include the armpits. I like to wet the alum, my face and hands and apply it to the whole face including my forehead, then the pits, then give it a rinse and set it aside. The alum is amazing. I only use deodorant every other day now, I am about ready to quit altogether except for date nights with the bride!

I should mention this is after a shower of course, otherwise that would be gross!
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

I'm sure this is somewhere else in the forum but humor me, what all can you use it for and why?

The why first, it is an astringent and has antiseptic properties. That is why is is beneficial to use after a shave, it helps to sooth and heal broken skin and protects it like neosporin.

I recently discovered its use as a deodorant and I have been amazed at the results. Apparently, it can be used to style and hold your hair somewhat in lieu of pomade.

I have been considering using it on my feet after a shower to keep my feet dry, testing to commence soon!

Ladies could use it on their legs after a shave.

It also helps to stop bleeding from small cuts, it burns like molten steel but does work very well!

Oh, in liquid form I believe it can be a flame retardant for grease fires. I recall reading that a few months back.

Alum is one of nature's little wonder chemicals. Seems to work for everything.

I hear that is how Chuck Norris acquired his dashing good looks.

Alum is closing the pores. That's why it's used as natural deodorant as well. Actually I lately could not get an alum block around, so I went to the next drugstore and got myself a "Deo Crystal", which technically and chemically is exactly the same, but for half of the price.
