Question Dry sensitive skin begone-Post shave routine for sensitive skin

    Good day gents,
My name is J, and I am guilty of having sensitive skin. Don't we all?

I love the burning sensation of AS balm, but I hate how it dries my skin...
Following recommendations from my better half, here's my routine:

    1) Purify/cleanse with an alcohol based AS lotion (Pinaud, Clubman After Shave Lotion)
    2) Replenish my skin's moisture with thermal spring water, leaving it to seep into my pores (Avène, Thermal Spring Water)
    3) Maintain a long lasting moisture barrier with a thin layer of hydrating lotion (Lab Series, Oil Control Daily Hydrator)

What's you routine to combat dry skin?

hmm - I apply a balm first and then the AS. Never thought to try in the opposite order.

I've just recently tried the Xpec After Shave Gel and it's been great. A little goes a long way and your face feels like silk from it.

    Have fun.

How right you are, Lynn. That is good stuff. Which reminds me: I'm almost out and time to order more.

Lynn and/or Obie (please excuse the informal adress):

If you have experience with both, could you please comment on the difference between the Xpec aftershave gel and balm, in both terms of performance and "feel" on the skin?

    Thanks a lot

Joe, in my experience, the results are about the same. Ordinarily I would opt for the gel in the summer, because I find it a wee bit lighter in texture, and the balm for the colder season. I have done the same thing with, say, The Art of Shaving aftershave balm and gel, using the gel more for the hot months and the balm for the cold. (By the way, the Xpec original shave cream is an invitation to shave heaven.)

    Thanks for the reply-
A while back I started a thread where I questioned the cost/benefit of Xpec based on price (I believe I titled it "Xpec - What's the deal?") This past Christmas my mother gave me a generous gift certificate to SRD so I treated myself to a new razor and a tub of Xpec. I have not done so yet, so I will take this opportunity to formally renounce my prior post and state for the record that I totally and wholeheartedly agree with you and many others - Xpec original (in my opinion) fully lives up to the hype - I absolutely love the stuff!
