Default Proraso pre shave kills my lather?

I have lately I thought using a hot towel and proraso pre shave balsem. Before shaving as a prep, instead of a hot shower or hot face wash. (Why i want to try this but think i are doing something wrong ) i heat the towel in the microwave , rub the proraso balm in my beard ,bring the hot towel on.
So far so good But when i lather up whit soap i see the lather disappear under my eyes. So i wonder have you guys a idea what i do wrong? Is the combination hot towel/ pre shave balm necessary or is it hot towel and lather up and go?

I have used proraso pre shave and never had that problem before. Try it without it and see how the lather is. My pre shave routine is 3 splashes cold water, wet the brush dip and face lather. Works for me. YMMV as always.

i can't pin point the problem only share a similar situation that happened to me recently.
I thought i would lather up with a new brush i had recently purchased.
i had cleaned it as per video and for the life of me I couldn't get a lather no matter how much soap I used.
I thought at first it must be that particular brush so i pulled another from my frugal inventory with the same result,...no lather.
i had just cleaned all my brushes and figure that I must have left a residue of some kind, most likely the conditioner on my brushes that i will attributed the problem.
I doubt it is your problem but it might be somebody else's here on the forum.

Proraso preshave shouldn't kill your lather, unless I suppose you applied it really thick and didn't let it soak in.

What I do is this: immediately after a shower, apply a small dab (less that the size of an almond) and rub it into my beard. I let it sit while I comb my hair, make my lather, brush my teeth etc. By that time it shouldn't be dry nor wet, and that is when I apply my lather. Works great every time.

I don't think it's the Proraso preshave cream, rather something else. I use it about every other time I shave (I alternate between Proraso preshave cream and Shave Secret oil) and have never had a single problem. I apply a small amount all over where I shave, and let it soak in while I strop my razor 50 laps. I then whip up my lather and go to work.

I have use Proraso pre-shave for a long time and never had it interfere with lathering. The only time I have seen a pre-shave product interfere with lathering was when I used a pre-shave oil and tried to lather a hard soap. The soap absorbed the oil and never lathered. I did find out you can lather a shave cream over pre-shave oil, but I decided I did not want to use oil and moved to Proraso. Since then, no problem.

I use the Pro pre-shave and have never had a problem with it i.e, lather.

Mind you I've forgotten it several times with my new cold shave routine, and am deciding if it really makes a significant difference. When I hot shave, I find the pre-shave very nice, definitely makes a difference. Guess it's the fun of experimenting. When I apply after a shave, wife absolutely loves the smell of it...say's it's a nice AS, haha!

For me it is the same as for the others. Shower, apply proraso, do something else for a few minutes, lather and shave. Works like a charm.

I use Proraso preshave cream once in a while, but have never had any problems with it either. And I apply a nice, thick amount of it. I may be over doing it.
