    Default Noxzema for preshave

Hi guys. I have read some posts about guys using Noxzema as a preshave as an alternative to proraso. I'm game to try this, as it's cheaper, and comes in large containers. I'm worried that I may get the wrong kind, as I think they make different products. Also, do you use it the same way you use proraso? I thought Noxzema was a facial cleaner/soap. Thanks.

When I have used it as a pre shave in the past I would get a decent amount on my hand and work it in to my beard. I would then leave it and build my lather. Once my lather was ready I would lather right over the noxzema. Then shave as normal.

As to the type I used the original deep clean noxzema.

    CSStevens,

To my knowledge Noxema does not make a pre-shave in the traditional sense of pre-shaves. For a superb pre-shave, I recommend Castle Forbes. It is water soluble and gives the skin that extra protection, especially if yours is a sensitive one similar to mine. Proraso will work fine, too, but the heavy eucalyptus scent gives me a headache. Edwin Jagger also has a good pre-shaves with a mild eucalyptus fragrance, which I find tolerable. D.R. Harris, Myrsol and several others also offer pre-shaves. I avoid pre-shave oils.

I put the Original Noxema on my bread and rub it in, right before I exit the shower, I leave it on right up until I use the first Hot Towel right before lathering up the go through my whole pre=shave routine...

Most people put butter on their bread, but I guess boys in Idaho are different.
