Thread: Trouble building lather

I'm referring to the Gillette shave gels for the 3 and 5 blade razors. You just tap it a few times and you get a lather going. These glycerin soaps actually need whipping.
I started off face lathering, but I really like the ritual of whipping a lather in a bowl and applying it on my face. It's very pleasing. I'm sure it doesn't give me any extra benefit, buy psychologically I feel more successful and joy

Ok, and I am just saying that when I add glycerin to soaps and crèmes they lather more easily and retain the moisture IMO

I to have had this issue.
Soak the brush, load for a minute or so and then start building lather.
My brush gets fatter and is full if lather but not in the bowl, I scrape it in the bowl and keep going but the brush keeps picking it back up.
If I keep repeating this I get enough.
I have you tubed videos and seem to be doing it as the others but cannot get the same volume as they do.
I have ordered another brush in a different style to see if that changes anything.

I bought some Glycerin earlier in the week on Amazon and it should be here next week. I'll give it a shot when it arrives.

My first question is what are you using for a brush. If you do not have a good badger, for gosh sakes get one. I made that mistake

My cheap as boar brushes work really well, you just need to work out water ratios. The only cheap (less than $15) brush i didnt like was a [possibly] synthetic "bristle" brush, but other than that i have had several $7-$11 brushes that worked fine.
I have a badger brush but it is my least favourite as it is way too soft for my liking, its like lathering with a cloud or somethingBread and water can so easily become tea and toast
