Edwin Jagger preshave cream
Normally use poraso green. Only have couple shaves left in the jar an was looking to replace it. Thought I may try a different brand to compare. Not that theres anything wrong at all with it just curiosity. Been looking at the EJ cream. Wondering how it compares or is there a better option?

Rollin,
The Edwin Jagger pre-shave is the more subdued and subtle version of the Proraso. I am not all that fond of eucalyptus and that's why stopped using Proraso products years ago. The Edwin Jagger has some eucalyptus and, therefore, more tolerable for me. Once gone, though, I'll resume using my Castle Forbes, which I prefer over all other pre-shaves. The Edwin Jagger was just an experiment. It is a fine product, I might add.

Rollin,
Castle Forbes has a light earthy lavender fragrance. As I noted earlier, I have tried scores of pre-shaves, but none yet comes near Castle Forbes. Good stuff.

You must feel the need for a Pre Shave conditioner. What do you feel it does for you?

I have to agree with obie. I need all the protection I can get. No matter what style of razor I am using. That being said I have been trying something a bit different since using up the last of my poraso. I have been making my lather brushing on an letting sit. Then once I have everything else ready to go I relather over the first coat. Has been working very well. So I may hold off on a preshave oil or cream for a bit an see what happens. If irritation comes back so will my preshave.
