I'm new , but I found for me MWF actually works up better in a bowl ... And room temp. water, also ... I face lather a light layer to work it in the beard then fine tune the lather in a bowl , adjusting with room temp water drop by drop for the end product ....
Hard water ups the difficulty , for sure..
    Best of luck .
    ( isn't the MWF dish great?! )
    Peace, Matt

Had the same problem, cut to the chase and got a shaving cream and pre-shaving cream. What a difference its the moisturizers that does the work. The creams contain so many moisturizers so far tried several, but PRORASO seems to do all for me.

I have gotten pretty good with mwf as of now. Face lathering has been enjoyable and all I use on puck soaps. It just works better for me that way, but when the cream comes out I head straight for my scuttle.
Razor rich, but money poor. I should have diversified into Eschers!
