Default Lather for the second pass.

So I can now 100% of the time achieve an awesome lather on mostly all soaps and creams (Williams excluded) for the first pass. Then by the time the second pass comes around my lather sucks and I get left with irritation, I've tried adding more water but then my lather is too wet and disappears. What would be a good idea to remedy this?

Less pressure on the second pass,,,, = less irritation.

I use the same pressure on all my passes, next to none. I am fully pointing to the drying or overly wet thin lather causing the razor to have far less glide then the original pass. I want that glide in my next passes without having to remake the lather if possible.

also the amount of water you need to add is minuscule. Try dipping just the tips of your brush in water and that will likely be enough.

I just re-hydrate my face between passes. The water on my face mixes with my lather and this seems to work for me but it all comes down to what works best for you.

Bowl lather. That may be the answer.

If you want to be able to lather for more than one pass, load enough soap/cream in the first place. With practice you should be able to load enough product to be able to make a good lather for each pass of a 3 pass shave. Either that or load some product and remake the lather each pass. If using shaving cream from a tube, by squeezing around a 3/4 inch long string onto the brush you should more than enough to do 3 passes. Normally, if I load enough soap/cream the first time I can get 3 passes in face lathering without adding more product in between passes. If I goof up and don't load enough in the first place I just go back and add a bit more product and carry on.

Try giving the brush a gentle squeeze, you'd be surprised how much lather is left in there.
