John Allan's Slickwater Pre-Shave Solution

Ladies and gentlemen:

I have tried a number of pre-shave solutions through the years with various degrees of success. The other day I came across a sample of John Allan's Slickwater Pre-Shave Solution and was pleasantly surprised. I used it for several days with different soaps and creams, and straight razors, and had the same good results.

This pre-shave gives a comfortable cushion and a smooth glide. I apply a tiny bit of it on my wet face and message it in; then lather up and proceed to shave. It is not oily or sticky. Quite clean, actually. I am amazed how good it is. Of course, it might not work for everyone as it does for me.

I had never heard of this product. The first thing I did was to order a 2-oz. bottle of it ($29) and hope it arrives by the time my sample runs out. I figure the 2-oz. bottle will last me several months, since you need a couple drops of it. For what it's worth, I really like this stuff.
