    Default Pre Shave

    Hi Guys,

I often go days or weeks without shaving, is it wise to trim the beard hair down with a trimmer before straight razor shaving or is it better to go straight into wet shaving?

I guess it's your choice, but IMO, there are few things more satisfying than slicing off several days worth of growth with a straight

Very true, I sometimes like to let my stubble grow and am more satisfied seeing the finished results after. When using other shaving implements I had to use an electric trimmer to take down the shrubbery before finishing with a MIII - the straight just removes the lot very efficiently.

Being a firefighter i cannot let my beard grow more than a day. On the days I am off I do let it grow a while longer and I find I get a better shave. Don't know why but hope it helps.

No need. Nice thing about the straight razor is that is does not "clog". See attached for an example...

Same here, it's usually Sunday evening when I have a shave. Sometimes as I'm in the building trade (so I can look scruffy and it's OK) it may be from Thursday or even before till I have one.

I also find the longer the face-fuzz the more satisfaction I get removing them.

Do be sure to have some Drano nearby if you're taking
off a significant amount of hair
