Obie,
You're correct...It doesn't feel right to add glycerin to top-tier shave creams such as TH or Trumper's or TOBS.
At the same time, I've found that adding just a few drops of glycerin to my shave creams helps combat their tendency to dry out on my face while I am shaving during the winter months when my central heat is on.
As you said, "it all goes back to what the individual shaver prefers.""Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Glen,
Have not been able to locate the items you mention. I did finally have some success with the Williams, Glycerin and the Mennen Brushless shave cream and 3 passes with an Imperial Extra Hollow Ground razor. Man, was it ever nice! That was some real creamy lather and got the best shave I've ever had......clean smooth shave, no skin irritation after wards, plenty of lather left over, the closest to BBS I've ever experienced. I see what you guys have been raving about. Think I'm going to like Williams finally."If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68

I use some cheap'o and some not so cheap soap's and creams. But I do have well water and its very hard most of the time, when its not so hard I can make decent lather with just my brush, Semogue 1305[and others] and maybe some TGQ's soap or cream[Thank you Mrs' Colleen]. But when the hardness of the water is being brutal, I use 3 or 4 drops of Glyceren bought at the local Wally-World[Wal-Mart] in the Band Aid section of the Pharmacy Dept.
I was just Butting in, cary on

Thanked: 2I use a little glycerin almost every time I shave. Seems to make the soap more lubricating. I use it and love it. Use what works for your face, and enjoy your shave.
