does your pre shave oil kill your lather?
Hello all
I have tried pre shave oil several times, never really like them for the following reason.
After one drop of oil the lather from my brush just does not form on my face. I get a nice thick lather when I face lather but this just does not form when I use an oil. Does anyone else have this trouble or is there something I am missing.
Thanks,
Crom

Thanked: 31I had some similar problems with pre-shaving oils, although I tend to whip up the lather to a medium consistency in the cup before continuing building it up on my face. However, I don't have a solution to the problem, as I quickly found out that I dislike pre-shaving oils. Lather straight on the moist beard is what seems to work best for me.

Thanked: 155Oil (any oil) can kill lather. If you use pre-shave oil, it needs to be rubbed into the skin. You also need to use an oil that is easily absorbed. If your face looks shiny after applying pre-shave oil you either have used too much, you have not rubbed it in correctly, or you have the wrong kind of oil.

I like Castle Forbes and Proraso pre-shaves since they
don't affect the lather, but mostly I don't feel the need
to use any pre-shave product.

I've never had that problem. I use pure oils as pre-shave treatments, either grapeseed, jojoba or, my current favorite, sweet almond. The shave cream I use is The Gentlemens Refinery "The Standard" and I have never seen a difference in my lather.
I don't think that the oils are particularly needed for the shave, but I do think they help my skin

Thanked: 190I use Castille Soap as my preshave oil and it being part soap actually whips up the lather of my shaving soap - Col. Conk Soap. I find this combination to be very effective for the price and very lasting.

I am using this oil.
Gessato and you can't get a lather to stick after use and you get a film on your brush, this does wash out with ease.
