I have a few, Georgetown Pottery G5, And The Dirty Bird, Large..I recommend the Dirtybird, its larger, holds more water....heat retention about the same...

I have the schwarzweisskeramik. (probably not the correct spelling) Alittle expensive but I say it is worth it. A fantastic piece of craftmanship from Germany.

This is the old-time scuttle that was discussed in another post: . The reservoir opening on the side is large enough to warm the brush and the top has three holes underneath to swirl the brush and warm the lather. In the days before running water, boiling water was placed in the reservoir to allow for a warm shave. I have never used one of these but I would suspect that they don't work as well as the newer ones.

The Schwarzweisskeramik discussed (see reviews) in another post is also my post happens to be my go-to scuttle as well (I have the small) because it has a place to dip the brush.

The Dirty Bird (see reviews) probably wins the popularity contest from what I can tell from reading shaving forums and it's a wonderful piece of work.

Thanks every body. I used the search box and found interested in the dirty bird scuttle. Does any one have pics of the webbed like lathering ridges? I'm curious to see what that looks like.

    Default scuttles

you might find a scuttle at the local antique store, but if your not looking for anything fancy you could always use an old coffiee mug they work pretty nice.
