Thanked: 7Because of this thread, I tried using my hair conditioner as a pre-shave. Result: small break out of acne after every use.
Guess my pores are too sensitive to that conditioner oil and other stuff in there?

Thanked: 0Beardsley Conditioner
I use conditioner as a pre shave prep. There is a product called "Beardsley" which is formulated specifically for use on your face to soften your beard. I have found that conditioners made for beards work much better as a pre shave prep than those made for regular hair.

I think conditioner works very well as a pre shave. Just rub a load into your beard in the shower before the shave and shave when you get out. It works great!
Trumpers unscented moisturiser is my other choice, that works great too.

Thanked: 1Are you guys rinsing it off before you get out of the shower?
Don't know what you guys are using for conditioner that is making you break out, but if it's going on your head in the shower, it's probably running down your face when you are rinsing it off. You guys are talking about the stuff like it isn't safe to use on your skin. I don't know about you, but my scalp is more sensitive than my face. My face gets exposed to a lot more than my head.
I use a conditioner that is made with natural ingredients with organic tea tree oil. I had difficulty finding anything that didn't dry out my hair and beard (when I had one). Then I stopped using shampoo and use a mixture of baking soda and water every few days, fixed that problem. But that's another story.
I actually scrub my face with one of those rough body sponges after the conditioner sits for a while. I seem to get better shaves when I scrub my face. But my shaves are not quite consistent yet. So who knows if it really helps or not.
