I like my lather the same as dups above likes his. Nice and creamy for the first pass. Then I'll wet the brush slightly more to have a wetter lather for the subsequent passes.

Usually I only use lather on my first pass, and I like it nice and thick. Of course, I also build the lather on my face, so if it was runny it would run off before I got to shave .

Sometimes I go for the all out 3 pass BBS shave, and when I do that I do the same as rc. Nice and thick for the first WTG, then dip the tip in nice hot water for a more runny lather for subsequent passes.

I like mine the consistency of beaten egg whites or close...thicker is better to me since I find myself getting too distracted by the runny soap and where it's going. I'd rather keep a secure grip on the razor too instead of the soap making my fingers slick.

I find that i like the lather if it'll come right off the blade when dunked under water. If there is still a pile of lather on the blade when I pull the razor out it's too dry.
Thought the more dry lather looks better

I like mine a little drier than that. I have to give it a swish or two when it hits the water before it will let go. Far from a perfectionist though I'm just looking for something that will slick my face up enough I don't tear it up when I drag a razor across it.

Mine is creamy, yet I get great smooth shaves from it and no razor burn. I'm using the Ma Bear shaving soap and am absolutly in love with her soap.
