Thanked: 983You don't have to. Just put cold water in it instead!

In these modern tight budget green aware days it pays to
think back to the old wash basin and water pitcher.
To clean the razor of lather hunt for one of the larger
sponges in the auto store or perhaps the foo/foo
ladies bath section of the store.
I have also been eye balling some of the plastic
dish pans for kitchens. Plastic is a little safer
for the razor and a bit lighter on the pocket book.
If and only if I can find one that fits....

Thanked: 983I use an enamel wash basin when I'm on the property, filled with cold bore water. Like stepping back 100 years when you get to shave like that while looking out across the paddocks.

Brush that humble cold lather pie down my throat and I will shave upon it.
Ok, now that my razor is sharp and my technique is progressing rapidly I am now appreciating the cold water shave (going against what I have written in previous posts).
As I am still learning it takes me a while to shave so I can’t be bothered anymore trying to keep my face and the lather hot. I now find cold water better for me as my skin is less inflamed by the continued application of hot lather and my skin is also tighter plus the other benefits others have mentioned.
Ice Cube in the lather bowl.
I place an ice cube in my lather bowl while mixing the lather and I enjoy the ice cool brush against my skin and to make those whiskers even more rigid, hopefully.
An extra plus to the ice cube is it melts slowly through the course of my shave so I do not have to add any additional water to the lather mix when it starts drying out. The ice melts at the same rate that I require more moisture to the lather as I take quite a while to shave as mentioned above, so I have a slippery chilled lather throughout the shave without adding water.
