Thanked: 275Dove "Damage Control" Hair Conditioner as a Pre-Shave
We got some "Dove Damage Therapy" hair conditioner at Costco -- a quart bottle, not expensive.
One of the ingredients is dimethicone -- a silicone-based lubricant. This conditioner is _really slick_!
I put a little on my face before getting out of the shower this morning, and put lather over it.
I got a superbly gentle shave -- no drag at all on the straight razor, just like running a squeegee down my face. I had the same feel with a second lather and shaving pass, using a DE razor. My beard just disappeared . . .
So here's another off-beat way to aid lather in lubricating and protecting your skin.
Charles
PS -- I'd like to give the Rodgers razor credit for this experience. But I honed it, it's in my regular rotation, and it's never felt this smooth before.
PPS -- I'm going to have to try "Gun Oil" (personal lubricant, not for use on firearms) next.

Thanked: 1195Many guys like to use hair conditioner as a preshave, many do not. My skin doesn't tolerate it well, as it tends to clog my pores and cause whiteheads. I also use multiple products in the course of a shave, so one less seems to benefit my face. But it does seem to work for many, so do whatever works.
