Though I use my pre/post as a preshave every time, it works very well as a post shave as well, especially the Green. If your face feels irritated, raw or hot in any way after shaving, Proraso will take care of it in short order. Good stuff.

On the Proraso web site, they list the pre-shave cream as 'pre and after shave'. However, on the jar itself there's no mention of 'post'. As I bought it as a pre/post cream, that's how I used it for a while. I have very oily skin, though, and found it used as a post shave cream not quite right for me. I then bought the Proraso liquid cream after shave. I actually ordered the aftershave lotion. The guy in the shop said there was no such thing (which of course there is) and after I told him I'd seen it on-line he said he'd order it for me. At first I was disappointed that he'd ordered the liquid cream aftershave rather than the 'non cream' aftershave, but after using it found it was excellent. I do find the liquid cream aftershave is absorbed better than the pre shave cream.
So that's where the confusion lies, in that the jar doesn't indicate a use as a post shave cream at all, but the web site does. In fact, the web site even has the pre shave cream in both the 'Shaving' and 'After Shaving' section. I'm making reference to the Australian Proraso site.
BTW, the Proraso site also lists the 'white' cream as 'Aloe & Green tea pre after shave cream', which is REALLY confusing! Pre & After shave cream or pre/after shave cream would, to me, be clearer. Are they saying this is a PRE aftershave cream (i.e. shave, apply this, and then apply aftershave OR use as a pre shave cream AND an aftershave cream???
In my experience, use the pre shave cream (I apply before I make the lather, apply the lather right over top, strop, shave) and then after shaving, wash face, and apply the liquid cream aftershave for a nice bracing finish. Hope this helps...

As a metro guy having used Clinique for men and Lancome for men skin products since I was 20 let me recap a bit on the confusion

Proraso has a lot of confusion going on. Their international website has not their world renowned Proraso ShaveCream listed under shaving creams but under shaving soaps

Their Pre- and post shave creams are also confusing to say the least.

    My guess is this:

Proraso have two dedicated AFTER SHAVE solutions in their original line (not talking about their new Proraso CuttingEdge line of products here)

The fluid green after shave Splash bottle is an AFTER SHAVE LOTION with menthol mint and eucalyptus with alcohol - thus for normal skin and for general use in hot weather.
This is what the average man have been using as sole after shave solution for the last 50+ years and no sissymetro creams and stuff like that !!

Then there is the fluid White after shave liquid cream bottle is an AFTER SHAVE BALM with green tea and aloe and no alcohol - thus for sensitive skin of for general use in cold weather.

The 2 Pre shave creams in the tub are both more cream like - the White has green tea and aloe and is for sensitive skin/cold weather while the green has eucalyptus and menthol and is for normal skin/hot weather.
According to Proraso you can also use the two fatter Pre shave creams as an after shave cream, but I think you would need to have a very bad case of razor burn or extremely dry damaged skin if you would prefer to use a more cream like solution instead of a genuine AFTER SHAVE LOTION/BALM for use when you have finished shaving.

If I've had a really bad shave and still want alcohol on my skin I will use a dedicated after shave burn repair solution followed by a more cream like post shave solution to get my skin ready for a liquid after shave with alcohol.

You could probably use (one of) the two Proraso Pre Shave creams as part of a two step after shave treatment if you want an after shave with alcohol and a scent but have bad skin or a bad shave (or both) that particular day !

After shaving - add the White Pre/Pro shave cream if it's cold or you have very dry/sensitive skin or the green if it's hot or you have normal skin. Then add the Proraso dedicated after shave lotion Splash or after shave liquid cream.
