sidmind,
+1 on the previous posts. There are as many ways to make shaving lather as there are wet shavers. The choice is yours. That is, whatever works best for you.
You really don't need to buy a shaving bowl with ridges or bumps in its bottom, although that is my preference. Check out Straight Razor Designs, Vintage Blades or Dirty Bird scuttles. They have relatively inexpensive, hand- made shaving bowls designed like that.
You can get a small cereal or dessert bowl from your kitchen cabinet and build lather in it."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Thanked: 66Thanks to all for the replies, I have been having great luck with using the AOS soap and a few drops of glycerin, loading the brush and then face lathering. it is working much better that expected.
Thanks to all for the help.

Thanked: 5I have the AOS soap in bowl thing. It took me a few shaves to figure it out (im a little dumb). But for me, after I have my brush soaked I flick it almost dry, add some shave secret oil to the tip, then rub it in the aos soap bowl thingy and face lather, if I need it wetter I just put some on my finger tips and let it drip onto the brush and keep on a lathering. Works for me.
I have tried lathering in a bowl and on my hand and that stuff just doesnt seem to take to it, but it does great face lathering.

Thanked: 66it sounds as if you do it the same as me, I am interested to know what kind of Brush you are using?
Myself I have a old boar brush from the flea market, after walking into Walgreen just this week, I noticed mine is exactly the same as the $10 Van Der Hagen(sp?) brush but a different color, I actually really like it and it does a great job (per my expectations)
I also have a vintage ever-ready badger hair brush, and although I admit the quality is probably not there, it does not work well at all for my face lathering method.
and to be honest I am afraid to spend any money on a good brush, as I don't know how it could do any better than my cheapo (worn) boar brush.Last edited by sidmind; 10-14-2011 at 01:30 PM.

Thanked: 5The brush I use is a col conks badger, its ok, I really dont like it, but I am not gonna spend a lot of coin on a brush. It would be nice to have a different one, being as mine sheds, I dont know if I shave more of my hair or more from the brush.
