    Default Tabac Soap

So now I received my ceramic bowl of Tabac soap. As it is hard shaving soap and I don't know what I'm doing ;-D how would I use this with a scuttle? My Dirty Bird scuttle arrives tomorrow.

What I suggest is, make sure you put a few drops of water on top of the soap, enough to wet it all, then let it sit for a bit. After that, take your brush and swirl it on top of the soap for about a minute so it gets really loaded up well, then take it into the scuttle to build the lather. That works for me with all my hard soaps, regardless of whether I'm using a badger or a boar brush.

No need to worry about lathering Tabac. It's so easy to work with it practically lathers itself lol. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

    Heck use it tonight.
Note that the puck and bowl have matching notches
    so it does not spin.

Once the puck glues itself to the bowl
consider getting in the habit of inverting the
bowl to pickup soap and also to shake out
the brush you can add water later as needed.

I have found that the puck will take on
water and swell unexpectedly. After a couple uses
it does not need to be left sitting with a puddle of water
    on top.

It is an easy to lather shave soap that seems to get
better the more you use it.

You can half face and half palm lather.
Load the brush, use your palm to add drips of water and
build a nice thick lather alternating face, hand, face
adding dribbles of water as needed.

Just make sure to soak your brush first. Then shake out excess water out of brush and swirl on soap 20 circles one way then 20 circles the other way. Then put 5 drops of water in scuttle and swirl away for a minute then add 5 more drops of water and swirl some more and you should have a stiff pile of cool whip.

    +1 and

    By all means experiment....
Your water is different and your expectations,
brush and face are different. You do not need to
    shave with these experimental lathers.

A puck of Tabac is a lot of shave soap so
some tinkering will hardly make a dent.
