Thanked: 0There are some good videos on wet shaving out there if you are following them you are on the right track. When I use preshave oil, I still lather with hot water and a good brush, with a quality soap or cream. That part is very improtant. I follow my shave with witch hazel astrigent and then with ice cold water which closes the pores and cools off your face. Then a non or low alcohol after shave. You should not have to use much preasure while shaving, if you need to you might try honing or stroping more. hope this helps

Thanked: 4I have been dealing with the same problem. Mine was a pressure problem. Just barely glide your razor down your neck almost with the spine touching it. Witch Hazel and a cold water rinse closed the pores, but a little item I just used this morning is the Proraso pre/post shave cream. It will soothe that burn and keep it cool for hours. You should give it a try if you get a chance.

If your neck is "on fire" from a simple WTG Pass and your lather is good, then you are doing something wrong
My Votes would be for:
1) TOO much pressure
2) TOO steep an angle
Next shave try the following:
Pre Shave prep:
Ensure the razor is well stropped and ready to go, take an old coffee cup and fill it with HOT water from the tap, and dunk your brush to let it soak and warm up...
Hop into a nice HOT shower and immediately wash your face, then rinse it, and apply some hair conditioner to your whiskers and let it sit while you finish the rest of the shower routine (I reapply once during this process)
Rinse off the conditioner, then put your face under HOT water for a few minutes (As hot as you can take it, your face can take more heat then you think, but don't burn yourself, this is a personal judment call thing)
After you get out of the shower, do not dry your face
Shake out brush, build lather (Either on face or in bowl) apply to face, and really work it in for 30 seconds or so, then commence to shave
when shaving, go SLOW, take SHORT strokes and focus on stretching the skin as well as keeping NO pressure on the razor (takes some practice) just let it glide gently, make sure you are using the correct angle (no more then 30 degrees etc) if you feel tugging at all, stop
If you are going to do more then 1 pass, make sure you splash HOT water onto your face/neck before reapplying lather for the next pass, but i'd focus on only the WTG pass until you are comfortable with it then add the XTG etc...
After the shave, rinse with some witch hazel if you have, if not go directly to COLD water splash and some after shave....
Hope this helps

I had the same problem with the same razor. And the problem was i was not used to the 5/8 blade. I was more accustomed to my 4/8 blades. I notice you have this post in the pre shave oil section i find that pre shave oils are expensive so i make my own. i used to use a little olive oil, castro oil, but i find mineral or baby oil works great. a little dap here and there and it protects the skin and leave your skin baby soft.
hope this helps
