Hey guys, my Dirtybird Travel Scuttle came in the mail yesterday, and it looks great. Julie's work at Dirtybird is beautiful. It seems very sturdy, and seems that it will pack well. I will give it a try and report back. Size wise, it fits perfect in the palm of my hand, it will require a small travel brush of course, but it will be like taking a little piece of home with me when I travel.

Hey All,
Just have to say I love this place! Too bad I can buy ya'll a beer or something an talk razors or something LOL.
Well I had already ordered a scuttle from George Town Pottery Georgetown Pottery: Shaving Scuttle Mug (G5) (I ordered the Hamada) after I received an email from Julie regarding her backlog and these over at GTP are the same deal and less expensive too (nothing against DB) AND they have a large selection of colors.
But as I wait the couple of weeks for it to be made, I cam across this thread looking for something to travel with and BAM! The perfect travel scuttle! For $13 (tax and shipping) this little Warming Pitcher is perfect! Now I dont care if the TSA smashes it...well, I care but I would care much more if they shamed my more expensive scuttle that took weeks to get. So thanks CaliforniaCajun for a great find! Mine should arrive in a few days. Cant wait to try it out.
Here is my GTW Hamada by the way. Check them out too!

Thanked: 51You're going to love the G5. I bought one from someone over at SMF and I love it. The hamada looks even better in person than it does in pics.

Thanked: 51I've been wearing my postman out too. First it was waiting for a razor, then another razor, then a c12k hone, then a scuttle, then a coticule, now it's washers and pins for a re-scale.

ILMAO
I know the feeling...I'm a newbie and have been bitten by the bug bad. I just found a good deal on a Japanese 12K wet stone in Japan and ordered it then learned it will take 2-4 weeks to get here! So in the mean time I made myself a double sided hard wool felt and balsa wood strop! LOL I read about guys here trying to come up with ways of making them so of course, I had to do one. Bam, inside of an hour I had gathered all the parts and put it together, tried her out and shave tested. I posted a "how to make one" article here as well. Never thought I would love shaving so much.

I ordered a DB 1.5 as a last ditch attempt at using a scuttle, I have a love/hate relationship with scuttles. I have a G5 and when I first got it I loved it, loved the feeling of nice warm lather in the morning but stopped using it because over time I realized it was just too small IMHO for me to get a decent lather whipped up without making a mess, also the heat was causing a lot of lathers to break down early. I hope that the DB 1.5 will work better for me... But for now I am finding that face lathering makes a much creamier lather YMMV.

Hey mcgyver, I think you'll dig the 1.5 IMHO. The thing worked awesome for me! I had more lather than I knew what to do with. I also had Julie add a dribble port which works great!
