Thanked: 0water quality and skin being dry and warm
does the quality of the water make any difference in any part of the shave? hard water, soft water, distilled water, purified water i.e. ( reverse osmosis, charcoal filtered).
Ive noticed after doing a hot towel from the tap my skin feels hot and loose but then after a couple seconds my skin starts tightening up and drying out before applying the brush. please any help here or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Too much hot water will dry the skin out. Avoid the extremes and just use warm water for the best outcome.

Hard water will leave a film on your skin and help dry it out. It has a really big effect on your scalp. Ask a woman with long hair who has used soft and hard and they will tell you.

Thanked: 0i will do that. I wonder whats the best way to get hot soft water, distilled water like bottled water?
I am currently stationed at camp casey korea, and am pretty sure the base has the worst water around. so if it has an affect on my skin it is probably destroying my brush too.

The worst to shave with is chlorinated water. I did that in a London hotel once. Terrible. And that awful smell......
I am a lucky man. I live in Amsterdam and we do have excellent quality water from the tap.

Thanked: 0i have visited amsterdam coming home from germany in 05, loved every second. here in korea if you catch some water in a glass and let it sit for about ten minutes it starts developing a yellow tint to it and it smells nasty so I'm really trying to see if the water might be causing my dry skin not just severely hot water.

Distilled water is a different animal from hard water. Distilled is pure water with nothing in it. Hard has carbonates in it and you either need a softener or some water filters will do some softening. Often times people blame hard water for issues but there is a whole universe of things that can effect your water and have nothing to do with hardness.
