    Default Facial Scrub?

I've been reading the forum for a few months now, and I haven't noted anyone stating they use facial scrub prior to shaving. For me, whether I'm doing my prep with just hot towels or a shower, I wash my face thoroughly with facial scrub. The stuff that has fine grit in it and really cleans my pores and lifts my beard. I get a much better shave from doing this and have been using it for years. Anyone else tried this?

I've been using whatever my wife has in the shower. It's been an apricot scrub lately but usually it's just a gentle cleanser

I only use a scrub on those days I am not shaving! I enjoy them but if I use them on shave day, my face feels really raw when I am all done.

    YMMV : )

I too was getting that raw feeling if I use the scrub prior to shaving . I was reading in the beginners tips regarding variables and decided to eliminate the facial scrub as the razor itself provides the "exfoliation". The difference is night and day. I will NOT be using the scrub prior to shaving anymore.

I Feel that if i use any scrub before shaving the DE/SR dont glide as good, and then i thought about it and maybe its cause you scrub away most of the moisture from outer skin since you remove a layer of skin, i used to use a scrub brush, wash cloth, muhle body scrub, and also a spunge from the sea not a fake spunge. Also used to use oil before shaving, stopped with that cause feel it makes the DE/SR miss alot of hairs, but the oils makes you feel better thou

I use Clinique facial soap mild daily with a boar brush. Once I finish shaving if I receive the raw feeling I usually just apply some AS balm to help moisturize and my problem is solved.

Everyone's face is different so do what is most comfortable for you.

I use L' Occitane's Juniper Bark Scrub the night before I shave, followed by my regular moisturiser. That means it gets used three times a week, max. I tend to get a lot more ingrowns if I shave without using it the night before. I have tried many and this one is hard to beat.

I use my normal soap to clean my face. Before I leave the shower, and just before shaving, I rub Stephan's stay Smooth Shave cream into my whiskers. Gives my face some stuff I just washed off and softens the whiskers.

The Stephan's is cheap to buy and does a nice job softening my whiskers for shaving.

I usually use a face scrub in the shower, but I don't normally shave right after showing,
