I have used MWF in mine and the first time it was too hot, I adjust to a lower heat when using MWF, this eliminated the drying out..It and Cabela has to be kept cooler..that's my experience and solution....I know you say ,why bother, but I truly love that warm foam and warm brush experience..

Thank you ShavingSrgn and that's a handsome scuttle too. Ansgar gives great workmanship and very helpful. I am still learning different soaps take more less water with the warmth factor..MWF is vey temperamental for example.

I LOVE my MWF. Unfortunately, I've develped a terrible case of SAD and don't use it as often as I would like (I rotate my soaps and seem to use my latest acquisitions the most often). My hot water heater is set fairly low so I've never really had a problem with "The Fat." The only soap that I've had trouble with is my Mystic Water. I really like the soap (I have two of their scents) but I have found that it doesn't seem to like heat at all. The lather breaks down rather quickly in the scuttle so I have to use warm, not hot water on Mystic Water days. I would eventually like to try a Dirty Bird, Becker, Georgetown G20, etc. (if anyone has a scuttle that needs a good home I'm currently helping unwanted scuttles find a good home). I know there's a number of much less expensive ways of creating warm lather, but I love the artistry and convinience of a scuttle.

I use a Becker 004 scuttle, very nice. and affordable also. I use a soap dish to load up my brush and then whip up the lather with the pre heated scuttle. The ridges work very nicely to make quick work of making mounds of lather. Stay's very warm for a long time and feels great!! I think it adds something classy to the lu when on the side shelf, real 'perty piece of pottery.

Thanked: 15Well, in my particular case I used to have a Texan Moss Scuttle. I loved, one day my kid was play around me while I was shaving. The story im 100% positive you know how the scuttle ends. After that I purchased a G20 nothing bad with it but, no way too small for me. After that I purchased a 1.5 DB real nice but 3 things.
1) The mouth was too big that helps turns the water more cold faster.
2) The inner bowl the cone construction turns the lather down or to the lower section and when lathers sometimes helps create a small mess of lather because it falls out the scuttle.
3) The handle construction is curved down. I always lathers the poison and put into rest the brush in top of the handle. In other words I don't leave the brush in the inner bowl due to the fact could create damage to the tips.
Right now I sold both of them and I purchased a Moss back again. In that sense as soon as I received I will take pictures and I will put them here.
Have fun shaving.
