Me too, I have been buying different creams & soaps the past 6 months, some seem to have a learning curve with the lathering. I'm always looking for the best lather out of ecah.

carlmaloschneider posted in the thread Soon to be out of Proraso pre-shave, any recommendations? about skipping the preshave to concentrate on lathering, stropping, and shaving technique. Now, I follow the instructions found here: Great Shaving Lather, Fast and Easy using grocery store level shaving soap. I do get a decent fairly wet lather. My own problem being forgetting to re-lather before I go to clean up after my main pass. I have a small egg timer in the bathroom that we use to teach my son the proper amount of time to brush his teeth. I'll work the brush over my soap for that amount of time after soaking it while I take my morning shower and then proceed to face lather according to the instructions in the article.
