splash/cologne
I've noticed you can get the same scent in aftershave splashes and colognes in some lines of product. Is a splash meant to compliment a cologne, or is the combination too overpowering and its a one or the other situation? If a combo what are your favorites?

Thanked: 375I'm going to say aftershave is for toning, prevent infection, and calm skin irritation and razor burn. Cologne is for smelling good. I would think if you get the same brand and scent that they would compliment each other by scent only. Could be wrong, or there may be more to it than that.......

splashes have less essential oils in them so they are cheaper. i think it goes from least to most - toillette water, aftershave, cologne, eau de parfum

Thanked: 603Good question, equally good answer!
"Aftershave splash" is low-powered in smell/aroma (but still noticeable, thank you), while "cologne" (and EDT/EDP) are increasingly higher-powered (spiritual overtones, optional) and carry the scent (and price!) forward/on|upward.
My favorite is Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel:

Thanked: 603Unlike dairy products, Grey Flannel doesn't go "off" or have an expiration date.
After patient and painstaking search, I recently (last week!) found-and-acquired some NOS Grey Flannel shaving cream and ASB. Hopefully, the SC/ASB/ASL/EDT will figure prominently in this Friday's SOTD. Stay tuned!
