Thanked: 369The Clubman Bay Rum Flush
Clubman was my first bay rum and I hadn't used it in years. I've tried many since, but today I re-visited the Clubman.
Familiar scent, and then...what I would describe as the Clubman bay rum "flush." Oooh boy! I'd forgotten about that...
I just patted it on after shaving, and then just held on for about 20 seconds of intense heat. Not so much burning, no stinging, just heat. Like a very hot towel on my face. Wow! I can see how this could be intimidating for the uninitiated. In fact, for a noobie, it might cause a brief onset of acute anxiety.
I think I like it.

So far Dominican is the only brand I've tried. I like the scent, but it doesn't last even an hour.
Old Spice and English Leather, on the other hand, last all day.
There has GOT to be a store in Dallas that has many aftershaves on hand. AOS was a huge disappointment.

Thanked: 20This is not quite true -
Ethyl alcohol is a product of sugar fermentation by yeast. There are different strains of yeast, and different sources of sugar. But alcohol that is distilled from yeast fermentation is basically the same regardless of the sugar source - alcohol is a chemical compound with a specific chemical formula - so the immediate distillate would be the "plain alcohol from sugar cane" noted in honedright's post. If you put that distillate in barrels and aged it for a year or so with some other stuff - you would get rum. This is the case for all booze - it is what it is moreso because of what is done to it after fermentation and distillation, not what the sugar source is. This is how I understand it - someone please correct me if I'm wrong...
