    Default CDG cologne series

I wanted to review this particular series from Comme des Garcon; I purchased all three a while back. My only real critique is that CDG might make them available in a set like they have for the incense series. As of now they're available in either 125ml spray bottles (boring -_-) or gigantic half-liter splash bottles.

These are fantastic value at around $80 with a medicine-bottle design. I feel like they may have had wet shavers in mind when they came up with this series. They're solid concentrations for an EDC, and really quite long-lasting. I splash them on liberally (as they seem designed for this) and get around three to four hours longevity from vettiveru, a little longer for Anbar and a little less for Citrico. Projection is subtle, but noticeable throughout its life. That said my skin tends to limit longevity so others may get better results.

The scents themselves are good but the vetiver is the star in my estimation. It's a genuine vetiver-dominant scent of the fresh, green sort with a clean quality. A great alternative to scents like Mugler Cologne for the wet shaver who wants a splash-on EDC. I prefer it to the Mugler scent in fact. Anbar is a citrus aromatic with hints of sweet amber, but more dominant notes of orange and clove; I find it very pleasing in cooler weather. Citrico is the least interesting. A standard citrus-forward EDC (think lemon, neroli and the like) which while pleasant is a little dull and similar to many other scents around. Subtle floral accents make an attempt to help it stand out, but most will not notice these. Despite CDGs reputation for reveling in synthetics all three of these scents have a very natural quality. Their composition is unusually conservative for such a house, but all are very well made and quite likable fragrances. Anbar and Vettiveru are especially good: you could go a long way before finding two splash-on EDCs as interesting and well blended.

In contrast to something like 4711 or Tabac - for the shaver seeking a splash-on EDC - these are only a little more expensive. They offer superior quality and longevity, and Vettiveru and Anbar offer two great, and very singular scents the first of which would blend very well with many other vetiver-dominant EDTs of the fresh-green style if you wish to use it before applying an SOTD. Though any of these could well be your SOTD on their own.

Edit - I forgot to note that as traditional eaux these are all considered, and marketed as unisex scents.
