Default My New Favorite Refreshing Soap and A/S Combo!

Hi All-So I couldn't wait to dive into all the goodies I brought home from the Asheville meetup. Being pretty tired on a Sunday afternoon, I lathered up my small puck of Mama Bear's Awakenings with my beautiful new Walleyeman/Ray custom brush (more on that in a separate review).

This amazing glycerin soap whipped up effortlessly into a thick, creamy lather that quickly chilled my face down to an amazing degree-maybe the coldest I've tried. The scent is a classic peppermint, tea tree, and menthol, very clean, sweet and refreshing. The razors I was test-shaving all glided smoothly through this refreshing, even eye-watering lather.

After 3 passes and a cold-water rinse, I decided the bottle of Captain's Choice North I had scored would be complementary, and boy was I right! Though some of us thought it smelled mostly of gin in the bottle, this delightful, manly scent quickly blooms into a piney, juniper scent with some cloves and what to me smelled like a sweet cinnamon, with maybe a hint of vanilla in the background. The witch hazel and glycerin give it great skin toning and conditioning properties, and it doesn't linger long ,unlike say, Cat O' Nine Tails (another CC favorite in winter). Very cooling (and a little warming at the same time). As one reviewer on the CC site says, it smells like something a lumberjack would wear (after shaving outdoors in the North woods in winter).

Great combo, and I highly recommend you try both if you haven't already. And thanks to the vendors and Rick Boone for the opportunity to try so many new shave products! Aaron/SHD
