It's a lubricant that keeps your beard from squeaking,,,

LOL! Yeah, the squeaking makes sleep nearly impossible at times!

Beard Oil is basically conditioner/scent for your beard hair... My beard kinda grows tight and kinky in some areas and so I'd tried regular condtioners, waxes and lots of stroking/combing... Then I came across an Ad for a Beard Oil and read up more about it to see what the deal was with the $20/ounce price and came to the conclusion I'd rather just try making it myself than drop $20 sight/smell unseen/unsniffed for an ounce of something I had zero experience with. Then, during the PacNW Spring Meet this last weekend Gerrit/Deighaingeal was mentioning something about it and that the main ingredient was Argan Oil which was readily available at Beauty Supply Shops. I'd read about the benefits of Argan Oil on the Beard Oil Site as they stated it was a main ingredient. Ultimately, I put all the info together, gave it a shot and it worked really, really well.

From what I can tell just from playing with it making these scents, Argan Oil would make a great Oil in whatever Shave Application as it has just a very interesting and pleasant scent as well as all the properties of Shave Oils... Seems it has been used as a Deep Conditioner for Women's Hair, particularly safe for colored/treated hair as it contains no alcohol. ?!

I had a blast doing this and my goat is way happier and looking great! What sparked a lot of this Beard Thinking is a guy with a full-beard approached me at a Fund-Raiser Yard Sale where I was selling/displaying some Wet Shaving Gear and he explained he is part of a movement to get guys to grow beards which I got a kick out of as he was basically describing the antithesis of SRP... Anyway, I've had a goatee for years yet still love SR Shaving so it got my mind spinning again on how I could maybe take better care of/pamper my facial hair... Which lead to my same User-Friendly/Do-It-Yourself Approach after which I enjoyed the results and had to share!

More particulars in case anyone is game to give it a try:

    One Ounce = 29.57cc
**Using syringe/needle was the easiest draw method!

So, I just rounded up to 30cc after which the percentages equaled:

    20cc Argan Oil
    7cc Primary Scent
    3cc Secondary Scent

You end up with a bit over an ounce and I used One Ounce Cobalt (Blue) Glass Apothecary Bottles w/Droppers which just worked perfect. Just a few drops of this stuff goes a LONG way!

Very cool! I really like the idea and kudos on you for researching and making it happen. I have made a few batches of shaving soap (updates coming soon). I am currently looking at making my own toothpowder... to bad I don't have any facial hair LOL ever thought I would be saying that here

LOL! Too funny! That was EXACTLY the gentleman's attitude at the Yard Sale! I am accustomed to kind of this 'air of mystery, awe and cool' when talking to people about using SR and this guy saunters up with his "Nice Slinky, Junior!" attitude which threw me for a loop for a second and I caught myself stroking/fluffing up my goat as I was talking to him. It was a fun moment or two laughing at myself!

Thank you! That is WAY cool Matt! I am really excited to hear more about your Shaving Soap!!! After making up this Beard Oil it got me thinking that Shave Soap, Beard Oil, etc Making at a Meet would be a blast where each person brings one Scent and the other Soap Ingredients then everyone gets to mix/match and experiment with all the options. I have close to 80% or more of my Scents left but used the Argan Oil so have enough to do this batch (4 One Ounce Bottles) many times over were I to grab the Argan Oil.

Great/funny memory about my first run with toothpowder... I was hassling my Grandma about trying it and think I was 9 or so... She shows me how, admonishing me to be careful... After which I promptly overload a too-dry brush, put it in my mouth excitedly as I inhale then reduce to a coughing/choking fit!
