    No shave today, but a splash of original to finish out the day.

    Ok guys, I need some honest thoughts, I've got my shopping cart loaded with some new flavors, the Musk, Lime, and back for an encore, the VI bay rum, but I am wavering on the Veg, lots of reviews speak of a cat urine stank. I wish a local retailer stocked it so I could give it a sniff. I don't want to smell like a cat hoarder, so please give me an honest opinion, should I give it a go or not? Thanks.

    Of course get a VEG; all true Pinaud fans must have a bottle. I may be wrong, Bongo can correct me , but Vegetal was Pinaud's first aftershave scent, I think.

    Get the smallest bottle; if you can't stand the scent then you can carry it in your pocket & squirt it in an attackers face,, better than pepper spray.

    Aloha!

    First, it's not an expensive proposition for Pineaud product, so not much loss if you don't like it. The ONLY way to tell is to try it. I personally don't understand the "Cat Urine" comments. Not one bit. I happen to like the scent very much. Perhpas when you first apply it you may be able to get a bit of an odd scent until it calms down. Many fragrances are like this. Some fragrances are harsh when they first hit the nose, but what I smell after a few minutes is lilac and a hint of some soft talc scent. That's all.

    Every nose is different. One man's poison is another man's pleasure. I agree with Hirlau. A true fan of Pinaud needs a bottle of Veg. I happen to like the fragrance. If you don't after buying a small bottle, then you don't and you are not out a fortune. Only way to tell is to try it. The issue now is that the mind is a powerful thing and you have been subjected to a "thought" that may linger in your mind. You may smell an odd scent no matter what because you are expecting this. Make sure your nose is clean. Smell some coffee beans or grounds before you try the Lilac veg.

    As a sidebar, I heppen to really like Vetiver and Citrus. But C.O. Bigelow Vetiver/Citrus is terribly off-putting to me. Yet others on the C O Bigelow site praise the cologne. To each their own. But that one is not for me, so I get how every nose can be so different. And your body chemistry plays a part in this as well. Some fragrance does not react well with certain body chemistries.

    My 2 cents for what it's worth.

    I just stumbled across this barber tip on Pinaud Lilac Veg;

    I was at my barber's shop this morning for a hair cut and I told him I bought Lilac Vegetal but it smells stronger and different than years ago. He gave me a GREAT tip & it works!
    Get two 12 oz. bottles (I used 2 empty plastic bottles from rubbing alcohol and washed them well); divide the Lilac into 6 oz. in each bottle; add 6 oz. water to each bottle; and 1/2 teaspoon of wintergreen rubbing alcohol into each bottle. Shake well. It will last forever.
    A great recipe; and now it smells fantastic and you end up with double your product.

    Never tried this, but if you are one that is not quite a fan of the Lilac Veg.... why not try this if you have a bottle that does not sit well with your nose?
