Lightbulb Alcohol free aftershave or alcohol based?

I recently been experimenting with different aftershaves between alcohol and alcohol free. I read this article about the differences between the two and I was surprised it was unbiased. I always thought alcohol based aftershave were bad for your skin. Now I realize it has a lot to do with skin type. I'll stick to alcohol based... my skin isn't too dry and I must say I love the burn.

Do you guys use alcohol or alcohol free?

I use both. I stick to the idea of having a different combination of products every night make my shaves fun

I'm defenitley a alcohol based aftershave lover. When I shaved with cartridge blades I alway's used a common ASB like Nivea or such. When I started experimenting with classic shaving I also started using alcohol containing after shaves. Haven't gone back since except.... this morning I tried the Nivea ASB again and razor burn allover which didn't stopped until I took a plunge in the Proraso Menthol Eucalyptus AS.

    Mbeckner, great article...

I had posted this @ the "other" site, hope you enjoy.

So I've been doing some research, prompted by my
experience using Pinuad Clubman. Since starting to
use it several months ago, my skin has increasingly
been looking older. I generally have had a
handsome, well aging face since I can remember,
though the big 40 is a month and a half away. At
first I was thinking that it must be me just getting
older, but each time after using the clubman
alcohol based product, my skin looked aged.

After delving into these queries, I started looking @
links between alcohol based skin products and
aging skin. Some very interesting facts have come
to light regarding my searching for answers. In
short, we are stripping away natural lipids, proteins,
    enzymes, and antioxidants, ENCOURAGING free
    radicals to bombard our skins.

We also need to remember that the skin (though
we're talking about facial skin) is the largest organ
of your body. Limit alcohol consumption, wear
sunscreen, eat well and don't smoke cigarettes.

Here are just a couple links to get you started on
helping you to make an informed decision. I
encourage you to continue your own research, as
well. Though I've posted in the Clubman threads,
sadly I can no longer endorse using the AS's. I love
the smell but if prematurely aging my skin is the
effect, it's not woth it, imho.

Well,,,I had just the opposite effect with using Clubman Pinaud,,,,I started using it 4 years ago when I found SRP. I loved the scent so much that I have been using it twice a day since.

Alky head. I love the heat and the feeling that, somehow, I have closed each shave with disinfectant.

Witch hazel, alcohol and aloe conditioner after drying my face - some aftershave a few minutes later.

MisterMoo-We ought to start a fanboy club for that Cat O' Nine Tails. Between that and all my homemade bay rum concoctions made with hi-test rum, I guess I'm an alcohol lover too.

That Proraso AS is still on y list too.

I have that AS, it's great stuff - been a routine for me, whenever I use the W&B Anchor razor, I use the T&H Trafalgar shaving soap, and the Captain's Choice Cat O Nine Tails AS for a nautical theme, just wished it burned a lot more than it does! Had a few people tell me they like it quite a lot, has a very masculine, earthy smell to it are some of the observations from the women flocking to me now that I shave with a straight razor....yea, right!
