Thanked: 49That looks like Floris Santal which is on my list to try, but I'm curious; did you ever try the Floris Sandalwood before it was discontinued? I'm told it was almost a pure sandalwood. Some people liked it better than Tam Dao. I've never tried it, but it would certainly be on my wish list.

Thanked: 603I did! I own and use it! (own and use them, both) B-u-u-u-t... I confess to being perplexed: Basenotes.com doesn't show Floris Sandalwood as being discontinued. I know... I'd read that it was discontinued, and I guess it must've been, 'cuz the Floris website only lists the Santal. Huh. I apologize to the OP -- it wasn't my intention to mislead.
Yes... Floris Sandalwood is very smooth... a very pure sandalwood. Floris Eau de Santal is a nice scent, but it's not got a drop of sandalwood in it. The Eau de Santal trio (shaving cream, ASB, and EDT) are wonderful products -- individually, and together -- but the Floris Sandalwood EDT is in a league of its own.You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Just to muddy the water a bit, Captain's Choice is about to introduce a Sandalwood AS. I have been one of the testers. It is a straight forward sandalwood scent with excellent skin conditioning. The scent is a bit too subdued for me, but everyone else is raving about it. It may be worth a try.....

Thanked: 49That definitely sounds like one to try. I also saw Creed's Santal Imperial mentioned on another forum. The mentioned in a discussion about floris sandalwood vs. diptyque tam dao.

I got a very generous sample of the Creed Santal along with others this week when I splurged and purchased some GIT for myself for my birthday. It is a very nice scent but not what I would call heavy on sandalwood.
I think the AOS and C & E are nice products too.
