Thanked: 0Penhaligon's Bayolea
Love the scent of the new Penhaligon's Bayolea, but the ASB seems to burn my skin in a way that the Blenheim Bouquet and Endymion ASBs don't... wondering if anyone else experienced this? And has anyone tried the Bayolea Soothing Gel that can compare it to the ASB?
Thanks!

I have tried the entire line with no negative effects whatsoever. Except, maybe, that the brushless cream is also latherless and best used as a preshave, really. Sorry to hear it does not work like that for you.

Thanked: 0I've heard that about the cream - that's why I bought the soap, even though I usually prefer creams. Can you compare the gel and the ASB?

I can try. The gel is more cooling than nourishing. If you have dry skin, I would give it a wide berth. The balm is nourishing, but less soothing.
Quite honestly, I have not been using them very much. As much as I like their Eau de Toilette, I have much better products in my arsenal. The soap is quite okay, but from a pure price/performance perspective, it is certainly not the best buy available.

Thanked: 0Thanks! Think I'll give the gel a wide berth in that case.
I agree with you about the price / performance. I'm a sucker for the BB and Endymion, but the Bayolea performance isn't what I'd like from something at this price point. I'll probably keep it in the rotation but not purchase it again...

I have never been impressed with Penhaligon's products' PPR. And yes, I did own a copy of the original formula English Fern. Very nice, certainly. But there are products like Alvarez Gomez, Esbjerg, Green Mountain Soap, or Meißner Tremonia around. None of them can compete with Penhaligon's in the scent department (except, but that is my very personal opinion, Meißner Tremonia's Dark Limes), but the performance is simply better. Mind you, Green Mountain Soap costs less than 25%, and is one of the unsung heroes of shaving soaps. Stellar stuff, if you can live with the scents, which more on the rustic side of elaborate.
