Pinaud Eau De Quinine formula Change ?
I just received this vintage bottle of Pinaud EDQ today.
As you can see, the modern version on the left is quite a bit darker
than the older on the right.
Has the older been diluted ?....It certainly has a more pleasing fragrance.
The newer has, in my opinion, something in common with VIBR !!
The newer version is Claret coloured-deep red.
Just part of the ongoing mystery that is Ed. Pinaud .

I have no clue however unless the bottle says otherwise most of the cheaper preparations are shipped to the country of sale as the essence only and the final formulation is done locally. Over the years they could have changed the "fillers" in many ways or it could even be a tad difference from your country to the U.S or Europe even with the current stuff.

Is the Eau de Quinine hair tonic? What does it smell like?
I was looking at an old barber's manual yesterday and saw multiple recipes for quinine hair tonic as well as some other barber products. I was thinking it would be neat to try some of the recipes out but wonder how hard it would be to source ingredients. For example, I don't think you can buy quinine over the counter in the U.S. anymore.

This vintage bottle was bought off the bay from a U.S. dealer.
EDQ is made as a hair tonic but just as many people use it as an AS or cologne.
It smells quite fruity and with a touch of something similar to Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum.
My sense of smell is not educated enough to be positive of this description, so anyone who
has tried it, please chime in !!http://straightrazorplace.com/workshop/18504-welcome-workshop-how-do-i-where-do-i-what-do-i-answers-here.html

Thanked: 6Bongo-
I have both versions of Eau de Quinine and mine are colored the same as yours . What I've found is the vintage bottle has a "softer scent" with more of Pinaud powder scent. The modern production has a sharper, more medicinal scent initially but eventually dries down to a powder scent.
I like both equally and use them as aftershaves in the winter time. For me it's not a summer scent--but really nice in cooler weather.
Have you tried the Eau de Portugal yet? It works well as an aftershave also and has very pleasing albeit short lived orange/citrus scent ..great in the summer .
All the best,
Marty E.

Thanked: 6Bongo--
I've never posted a pic on a forum before--I'm a little technically challenged!! But if I can figure it out and use my phone camera,I will.
Enjoy your Pinaud--it's great stuff!
